Identification Failures Plague Military Personnel

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian soldiers traveling legally within the country are being wrongfully detained and pursued by police due to a critical malfunction in law enforcement databases. The ARMOR system is incorrectly flagging them as deserters (AWOL), leading to unjustified stops and dangerous police chases. Anton Chornyi, an instructor with the 'Shkval' battalion of the 59th Brigade, described one such alarming incident.

Chornyi reported that during their movement, two police vehicles initiated a pursuit.

"In the end, two police cars are after us, a chase, well, in short, an interception, the interception plan is insane," stated Anton Chornyi.

Even when documents were checked, the soldiers continued to be listed as AWOL in the system.

"They check the documents, log into their ARMOR system, and I still show up as some kind of deserter," emphasized Chornyi.

This systemic error highlights the severe operational risks posed by faulty military data integration during an active war.

Root Causes and Wider Consequences

The identification errors stem from databases that are either unsynchronized or non-functional. Chornyi further explained that while his battalion command had submitted the necessary paperwork to the Military Law and Order Service (VSP), the document failed to open in the VSP's system.

"Last time they added some document; my battalion command sent this document to the VSP, but by some coincidence, it wouldn't open for them," he noted.

To resolve the issue, servicemen are forced to appear in person to present their documents physically.

"I now know they have a form there stating that I am serving in such-and-such unit, but it doesn't load for them. So I have to drive over myself and shove it under their noses," concluded Anton Chornyi.

This situation underscores the urgent need for database updates and synchronization to prevent future incidents.

The technical failures in soldier identification systems carry serious repercussions, extending beyond individual inconvenience to impact overall military and law enforcement efficacy. False accusations of desertion and unnecessary delays can severely damage troop morale and erode trust in the supporting bureaucracy. Ensuring timely updates and seamless data synchronization is therefore critical for safeguarding soldiers' rights and maintaining operational security during wartime.
