Military personnel have received additional leave: what has changed since September 22
Ukrainian servicemen have received new rules for granting leave. The law that has come into force defines mandatory annual leave, taking into account the needs of combatants and those who are obtaining education.
Changes in leave granting procedures
The new law maintains the leave duration at 30 days, of which 15 days must be continuous rest at the serviceman's request. The possibility of granting an additional 14 days of rest for combatants has also been restored. Furthermore, for the first time, the right to educational leave has been introduced for servicemen aged 18–25 who are obtaining education.
In case of refusal to take leave, servicemen are advised to submit a report, contact the military police, or reach out to the Ministry of Defense hotlines. The additional right to appeal to the President's authorized representative has also been granted.
Legal assistance
War veterans have the right to free legal assistance, including representation in court. For military personnel without veteran status, consultations and assistance in preparing documents are available. Court representation is only possible for certain categories of citizens.
