Drivers are in for an unpleasant surprise: The Ministry of Internal Affairs begins to annul technical inspection protocols

Police annuls technical inspection protocols
Автомобілістів чекає неприємний поворот: Міністерство внутрішніх справ починає скасовувати протоколи технічного огляду.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers will start checking compliance with the new technical inspection requirements for vehicles from July 1, 2025. If any violations are detected during monitoring, the technical control protocol will be annulled, and the vehicle owner will be notified.

The main innovation is the introduction of full photo and video recording of the technical control process. Each technical inspection point must have at least two cameras that will record the entire verification process.

'The main goal is to improve control and prevent fictitious technical inspections. Previously, it was possible to circumvent the rules, but now, thanks to video recording, control has become more effective,' explained Pavel Soroka, Deputy Head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The new requirements for recording include: the vehicle in the photo must occupy at least 70% of the image area, indicating the date and time that match the submission date of the protocol, as well as clear and well-lit photographs.

Violations during the technical inspection carry a fine of 1400 hryvnias. For example, incorrect photo recording or lack of part of the video recording of the procedure may lead to penalties.

Currently, Ukrainian service centers have about 800 technical inspection points that are already equipped with the necessary equipment and cameras for transmitting video recordings to regional data processing centers.

New requirements for vehicle technical inspections have been submitted, in particular, full photo and video recording of the technical control process. This will help improve control and avoid fictitious technical inspections, ensuring a more efficient mechanism for detecting violations. The Deputy Head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the new rules will complicate the ability to evade mandatory technical inspections.
