The European Union is launching the Entry/Exit System (EES), which will automatically record all crossings of the EU's external borders by citizens from third countries, including Ukraine.

Starting from October 12, 2025, changes regarding crossing the EU borders for Ukrainian citizens will come into effect. Now, drivers and passengers will be required to exit their vehicles for the procedures of checking and submitting biometric data. This information is reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland.
  • All passengers in vehicles must exit the transport for biometric checks.
  • The procedure for rail travel may differ depending on the border crossing point.
  • Refusal to provide biometric data may be a ground for denial of entry.

Purpose and benefits of the innovations

These changes are being implemented for better control over compliance with the rules of stay in the EU, to prevent cases of using forged documents, and to increase security in the Schengen area.

Furthermore, the salary levels in different EU countries can vary significantly. According to Eurostat, the most favorable conditions for employees in terms of salary are offered by countries such as Luxembourg, Belgium, and Denmark. In various sectors, the average salary can also vary; for example, in business economics, one can earn 34.2 euros per hour, while in industry, up to 39.8 euros per hour.

Upon entering the EU, Ukrainians will be required to undergo the procedure of checking and submitting biometric data by exiting the vehicles. This new system is designed to improve control and security within the European Union and to prevent violations of the terms of stay in Schengen countries. Additionally, the new legislation reflects information about salary levels in various EU countries, which may be useful for Ukrainians planning to find work in Europe.
