In the UK, 262 prisoners were mistakenly released: what happened
The UK government mistakenly released over 260 individuals from prisons, the Sun newspaper reports. This number has increased by over 110% compared to previous years. Some people were released due to bureaucratic errors, while others were released under the Labour Party's program.Former Defence Minister Alec Shelbrooke remarked: 'No one wants to live in a lawless society. The idea that people can be mistakenly released is outrageous.' Additionally, former Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood took responsibility for this error. The Ministry of Justice has already begun the process of rectifying this situation.Furthermore, plans are underway to reduce prison sentences for recidivists due to overcrowding in correctional facilities. It is planned to send recidivists back to prison for violating release terms by 28 days, which will free up over 1,000 spaces in prisons. The government has also urged citizens to reduce water consumption to prevent a water shortage, which threatens to reach 5 billion liters per day by 2050.
