Ukrainian Heroes Receive State Honors
According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the 'For Courage' medal to two individuals for their bravery in rescuing civilians following Russian drone attacks. The recipients are:
- Sergeant Vladyslav Rozhkovskyi, call sign 'Omar', of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade;
- Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty war correspondent Marian Kushnir.
Acts of Heroism
Sergeant Vladyslav Rozhkovskyi helped evacuate and provide first aid to passengers after a drone attack on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region, which injured over 200 people. President Zelenskyy noted that Rozhkovskyi began assisting people immediately after the strike.
Separately, war correspondent Marian Kushnir rescued a four-year-old child from a burning apartment in the Kyiv region after a drone attack on a multi-story building in Bila Tserkva. The rescue occurred around 2 a.m.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, visited Kramatorsk to personally thank Vladyslav Rozhkovskyi for his heroic actions. President Zelenskyy emphasized:
'I am proud that Ukraine has such people. Thank you for your compassion and for protecting lives – both on the front lines and in the rear. It is precisely because of such people that our country endures and fights against the enemy.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
These awards highlight the critical importance of courage and humanity during wartime, where individual actions can save lives. Recognizing the service of Rozhkovskyi and Kushnir also demonstrates solidarity between society and the state, a key factor in sustaining Ukrainian morale. Such acts of valor serve as a powerful inspiration to others during this ongoing conflict.
