According to ХВИЛЯ: The death toll has risen to five. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that approximately 40 people were wounded in the capital, and more than 10 individuals are still missing in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district. The strikes also impacted Kharkiv, Odesa Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, and Poltava Oblast. In Kharkiv, 28 people were injured, while two were wounded in the Odesa region. Across the country, 180 structures were damaged, including over 50 residential buildings.
Affected areas and humanitarian missions
Emergency services are actively working in the affected areas of Kyiv Oblast. A search-and-rescue operation is ongoing in the Darnytskyi district, with teams also deployed in Kyiv's Obolonskyi district and Poltava Oblast. More than 750 State Emergency Service personnel and nearly the same number of police officers are involved in the response.
President Zelenskyy stated: 'As of now, we know of five dead in Kyiv from the overnight Russian attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones.'
Additionally, during a humanitarian mission in Kherson, Russian forces twice attacked a vehicle belonging to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The head of the office and nine other staff members were inside, but none were injured. Zelenskyy emphasized that 'the Russians could not have been unaware of which vehicle they were targeting.'
The overall interception rate for missiles and drones that night exceeded 93%. Russian forces launched over 670 attack drones and 56 missiles at Ukraine, with Kyiv as the primary target. The President stated that 'there will be a just response to all these strikes' and called for international pressure on Moscow. 'It is crucial that the world imposes sanctions against Russia,' Zelenskyy stressed, highlighting the need for Russia to be held accountable for the war.
This attack is yet another sign of the escalating conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which continues to cause numerous casualties and widespread destruction. The high interception rate demonstrates the preparedness of Ukrainian defense forces, but the threat level remains severe.
