Zelenskyy Inspects Over 400 Critical Sites in Winter Readiness Review
Winter Season Preparedness Review
According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has conducted a review of the nation's energy and critical infrastructure readiness for the upcoming heating season. He stated that work is ongoing on more than 400 new facilities deemed crucial for the system's operation during winter. Zelenskyy noted that hundreds of sites require additional restoration following Russian attacks. This assessment comes as Ukraine braces for another winter under the threat of targeted strikes on its power grid.
“Today, the top priority is our work with all regions and government officials to inspect energy and infrastructure facilities. These are the sites critical for surviving the winter, which must be fully functional and reliably protected for the next heating season,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Meeting with Regional Leadership
Additionally, Zelenskyy held a meeting with the leadership of all regions, attended by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and other government officials. He emphasized the necessity of strengthening defenses, particularly in regions facing the highest threat of attacks, which include the north, east, and south of the country.
“No one can say what the situation will be next winter. We hope diplomacy will work, but we must be prepared for any scenario,” stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Diplomatic engagement with the European Union remains a key focus. The President remarked that the absence of new sanctions steps 'demoralizes the defenders of a united Europe and encourages Russia to continue this war'. He also addressed security concerns, stressing the need for sufficient domestic production of interceptors: “The volume of interceptor production in the country must be sufficient for the demands we have.”
In a related security context, two patrol police officers were reported to have been notified of suspicion in connection with a shooting incident in Kyiv. Zelenskyy noted that the officers should have done everything to stop the killer but fled. This situation underscores the critical importance of effective law enforcement in ensuring public safety.
Winter preparation and ensuring energy security are critically important for Ukraine, especially under conditions of ongoing military aggression. The work to restore damaged facilities and complete new projects requires coordinated action at all levels, from the central government to local administrations. Simultaneously, security and defense issues remain a priority, as the threat of attacks from Russia remains high.
In light of these challenges, the Ukrainian government is also prioritizing financial support for energy infrastructure. Recently, a significant allocation of 22 billion hryvnias was announced to bolster regions lagging in energy readiness. This investment underscores the commitment to strengthening the nation's resilience as winter approaches.
