'Flamingo' Missile Deployment and Manufacturing

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukrainian-made 'Flamingo' missiles have been used against targets inside Russia and that their production has been restored following a Russian attack. He made these statements on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine deployed a 'Flamingo' missile several days ago against an area housing the Russian 'Oreshnik' system, expressing hope for successful results from the strike.

According to a report from the General Staff, a strike on the infrastructure of the 'Kapustin Yar' testing range in Russia's Astrakhan region was recorded on February 5. Attacks on this facility were carried out throughout January 2026 using domestically produced Ukrainian weaponry, specifically the FP-5 'Flamingo'.

Zelenskyy also reported that Russian forces attacked the 'Flamingo' missile production site, destroying one major assembly line. However, he stated that manufacturing has been relocated and resumed. On the night of February 7, Ukraine's Security Service struck the Redkino Chemical Research Plant in the Tver region, which produces fuel components for Russian Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles.

Continued Production Efforts

Zelenskyy emphasized that despite a limited number of 'Flamingo' missiles, Ukraine continues to work on their production and deployment for military operations. These developments underscore Ukraine's ongoing efforts to develop its own long-range strike capabilities to counter Russian forces.

These events occur against the backdrop of the ongoing military conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which continues to impact regional security and strategic balances in Eastern Europe. The use of new missile systems and the restoration of their production demonstrates Ukraine's commitment to maintaining its defensive capabilities despite enemy strikes. Simultaneously, this may lead to new escalations in the conflict and corresponding responses from Russia.
