Zelensky appointed a new commander of UAV PVO: who he became

According to glavcom.ua: The new leader has been set a number of important tasks agreed upon at a meeting of the Staff. These priorities include the active implementation of unmanned aerial vehicles, in particular interceptor drones, as well as the modernization of the domestic air defense system with the help of the most modern samples of weapons.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has approved Colonel Yuriy Cherevashenko as the commander of unmanned aerial systems for air defense. The relevant order regarding this appointment was signed by Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the President's Office.

It is known that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree dismissing the deputies of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This is known from decrees No. 831/2025 and No. 832/2025.

Dismissed:

• Sergiy Demedyuk from the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine;
• Andriy Kononenko from the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Let us remind you that on November 3, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree approving a new structure of the National Security and Defense Council apparatus. According to Umerov, the new structure is focused on key areas of national security: war and victory, the development of the defense industry, cybersecurity and information policy, economic and energy security, external and internal security.

Under the new leadership in the field of unmanned aerial systems for air defense in Ukraine, the active implementation of new technologies and modernization of military systems are anticipated to ensure the national security of the country. At the same time, the changes in the composition of the National Security and Defense Council apparatus indicate strategic transformations in the structure of leadership in the defense policy sphere.
