Ukraine’s President Appoints Ambassadors to Luxembourg and Bahrain: Who Will Represent Kyiv

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has named Yaroslav Melnyk as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, serving concurrently. This appointment was formalized under presidential decree No. 344/2026. Melnyk will continue to hold his current position as Ukraine’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, a role he has filled since 2025.

Born on January 6, 1980, in the city of Dubrovytsia, Rivne Oblast, Melnyk is an alumnus of the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering. Fluent in both English and Italian, his language skills are expected to support his work in this new diplomatic capacity.

Oleksandr Balanutsa’s Appointment

In a separate move, President Zelenskyy signed decree No. 333/2026, appointing Oleksandr Balanutsa as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain, also on a concurrent basis.
