Ukrainian Forces Systematically Dismantle Russian Logistics in Crimea, Preparing for a Bridge Strike
Crimea's Russian Supply Lines Under Systematic Assault
According to ХВИЛЯ: According to analyst Ihar Tyshkevych, Ukrainian forces are methodically destroying Russian logistics in Crimea, focusing on supply routes critical to Moscow's military operations. He highlighted strikes on supply corridors, the destruction of railway ferries in the Kerch Strait, and increased pressure on the Crimean Bridge as key components of this campaign. In his view, the question of destroying the bridge is no longer a matter of 'if' but 'when.'
Ukrainian Strikes and Their Impact
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are targeting the Taganrog-Mariupol-Berdyansk-Melitopol-Dzhankoi supply route. Over the past three weeks, strikes have hit oil depots in Crimea and ports, including the oil terminal in Feodosia. In March and April, Ukrainian forces destroyed railway ferries in the Kerch Strait, leading to restrictions on traffic along the Taganrog-Dzhankoi route. Cargo now moves by road or across the Crimean Bridge, though bridge traffic has already been limited following previous attacks.
As of early 2025, Russia had approximately 2.5 million trucks and tankers with a capacity of 2.5 tons or more. Of these, about 1 million are in the Russian military, while a maximum of 3.5-3.6 million are in civilian use. From the start of 2025 to May 15, 2026, Ukrainian forces destroyed 36,000 such vehicles. In frontline and occupied areas, only about 150,000-200,000 trucks are actually available.
Russia has deployed air defense systems near the Crimean Bridge, indicating a heightened threat level. Tyshkevych noted that Ukrainian forces have breached defenses in Novorossiysk, Tuapse, and Sevastopol. He estimates a potential strike on the Crimean Bridge could occur between mid-June and early July, noting that preparations for the Tuapse strike took about two months.
Possible targets for strikes include:
- military trucks
- civilian cargo vehicles
- tankers
- gas stations
The planned bridge attack involves an initial reconnaissance phase, followed by strikes on air defense systems, and then a third or fourth wave targeting the bridge itself.
'There is not a single railway ferry left,' emphasized Ihar Tyshkevych, underscoring the scale of the enemy's logistics destruction.
The situation on the front shows Ukrainian forces actively disrupting Russian supply chains on the Crimean Peninsula. These strikes could significantly impact the delivery of resources and ammunition, boosting Ukraine's chances in future operations. Destroying key infrastructure like the Crimean Bridge could have strategic implications for the conflict's trajectory.
As Ukrainian forces intensify their operations in Crimea, the recent actions of the HUR unit 'Prymary' demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted strikes against Russian military logistics. These developments underscore the strategic importance of disrupting supply lines, as detailed in our report on the destruction of military trains that are crucial for sustaining Russian operations in the region.
