Anastasiia Konokhova Achieves a New Ukrainian Record

According to Главком: At just 13 years and 11 months old, Anastasiia Konokhova, a resident of Vinnytsia, has set a new national record by proving her English skills at the C1 level on the international CAE scale. She passed the Cambridge exam with an impressive 198 points out of 210, bringing her remarkably close to the C2 proficiency tier.

Konokhova now holds the title of the youngest Ukrainian to certify C1-level English under the CAE framework. This milestone is a major victory not only for her but also for the country, as the previous record was held by Olha Tovstusa, who achieved C1 at 14 years and 10 months of age.

Educators' Praise and Other Accomplishments

Renowned educator Lana Vyetrova highlighted that this level of mastery enables fluent discussion of scientific, technical, and highly specialized topics, as well as the ability to grasp hidden meanings and subtle linguistic nuances.

“This is a language proficiency level that allows you to speak freely about scientific, technical, and niche professional subjects, and to recognize hidden meanings and the finest linguistic subtleties. So while her peers are learning ‘London is the capital of Great Britain,’ Anastasiia is explaining to Britons why their grammar sometimes falters,” she remarked.

It is also worth noting that another young talent from Vinnytsia, eight-year-old Bohdan Maliarskyi, set a Ukrainian record by reciting 232 facts about Eurovision from memory. He earned the title for the greatest number of historical facts about the Eurovision Song Contest recalled by a child. These achievements by Vinnytsia’s youth underscore the high level of education and talent in Ukraine.

Konokhova’s accomplishment highlights the growing enthusiasm for foreign language learning among young people in Ukraine. It also helps promote English as a vital tool for international communication and professional growth. At the same time, records set by these young prodigies showcase the potential of Ukrainian youth on the global stage and emphasize the importance of supporting education nationwide.
