1.5 trillion for Ukraine: Why does the eye twitch in Brussels when mentioning 2027?
1.5 трильйона для України: Чому Брюссель неохоче говорить про 2027 рік?

While  Kiev hopes to join the EU 'in a couple of years', and in Washington, Trump is preparing a plan to push us onto Europe's balance sheet, behind the scenes in Brussels, there's a smell of valerian. The price of the question is 1.5 trillion euros.

This is not just a number; this is the price tag for the collapse of the European Union in its current form.

Political Splits: Walls and Traps

The story is going around for the second time, only with bitter irony. In 1990, the Berlin Wall fell on the Kremlin, burying the USSR. Today, Washington wants to drop a similar 'wall' (in the form of obligations to Ukraine) on Brussels.

Trump plans to pull a 'fast one'. Withdraw from the game, declare peace, and make Europeans pay for everything - from rebuilding bridges to pensions. For the USA, this is the ideal way to get rid of the 'Ukrainian case' and go fight China.

The Kremlin watches this with a sly smile. For the 'collective Stalin', this is historical satisfaction. They want to see from the front row how the 'European USSR' collapses under the weight of its own expansion.

To understand how we are really 'awaited', look at Turkey. It has been waiting in the lobby since 1987. 39 years of promises! The EU is a master at keeping doors open for so long that candidates grow old. But Trump won't give them forty years. He sets a deadline - 2027.

Economy: No Money, But Hang In There!

Why is Brussels in panic? Because the EU budget is not a bottomless barrel, but a wallet where everything is accounted for down to the cent. Ukraine's membership instantly turns all current 'poor' EU countries into 'rich' ones that have to pay.

Romanian Roads and Polish Pensions

In the EU budget, there are 'equalization funds' (€392 billion). Currently, Poland, Romania, and Hungary receive them. As soon as Ukraine - the poorest country in Europe - enters, this money moves to us. The Polish road worker will no longer receive a grant for the highway because the money has gone to restoring Chernihiv. For Warsaw, this is a loss of about €60 billion.

The Farmers' Revolt

One third of the EU budget (€386 billion) goes to farmer subsidies. Ukraine has more arable land than all of Germany. Under current rules, we are supposed to take €96 billion in agricultural funds. This means that the French or Polish farmer will have their subsidies cut by 25%. On that day, their tractors will tear down the gates of the European Parliament.

The Final Bill

€1.5 trillion is not just for reconstruction. It is the cost for Ukraine not to 'drown' the EU economy but to become a part of it. Europe does not have that kind of money.

Why Are They So Panic-Stricken?

But money is only half the trouble. There is something scarier for EU bureaucrats. They fear the Ukrainian voter.

Ukraine in the EU means a massive block of votes in the European Parliament. And these will not be the 'sleepy' deputies from Luxembourg. They will be people with war experience, passionate and tough. Together with Poland and the Baltics, we create an 'Eastern Bloc' that will simply take power from Berlin and Paris. Old Europe understands that by accepting us, they cease to be the masters of their own home.

Final: The Trap of 2027

Brussels is currently in a historical trap. On one side is Trump, who is pushing them from behind. On the other is Putin, who is waiting for their downfall. And in the middle is Ukraine, which is worth one and a half trillion and has the audacity to demand its share.

The promises of 2027 are political morphine. They are trying to lull us while trade goes on behind our backs. Looking at Turkey, we must understand: in Brussels, they know how to wait forever. Our task is not to wait for mercy but to become a force that cannot simply be 'kept in the lobby.'
