150 children of fallen defenders head to the Carpathians for a summer getaway
'Summer Without War' initiative
According to Главком: As part of the 'Summer Without War' project, 150 children from families of fallen defenders, prisoners of war, missing persons, as well as active-duty military personnel and veterans, have departed for a vacation in the Carpathian Mountains. This effort, now in its fourth year, is supported by the Ukrainian Armored Vehicle company, according to its press service.
The 'Summer Without War' project aims to provide psychological support to children whose families have been affected by the war. To date, over 4,000 children of service members have benefited from opportunities for mental and physical recovery. The initiative is carried out by the charitable organization 'After Service' in partnership with the public group 'Mercy and Health.'
Healing through psychological support and recreation
Supporting the children of our defenders is incredibly important to us. We recognize that families often lack the time, resources, or means to organize such getaways, so we take on part of that responsibility. While our troops hold the front line and protect the country, we look after the health and leisure of their children. Vladyslav Belbas, project representative
The program includes psychological recovery, social integration, and active recreation-essential elements for children who have endured traumatic circumstances. This initiative is designed to support war-affected families, giving children a chance to experience joy through rest and peer interaction.
'Summer Without War' serves as a critical social support mechanism, helping children adapt to life amid conflict and alleviating the psychological stress tied to loss. Backing such efforts can yield long-term positive outcomes for children's development, promoting their emotional and social well-being.
As children embark on their much-needed getaway in the Carpathians, it is crucial to remember the sacrifices made by their families. Many of these young individuals face the emotional toll of losing a parent in service, similar to the heartfelt tributes paid by graduates who recently honored their fallen soldier fathers at their graves. Such acts of remembrance serve to strengthen community bonds and highlight the ongoing challenges faced by families in the aftermath of conflict.
