Oksana Chikhrak: A Life Cut Short

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Oksana Chikhrak, a 24-year-old surgical nurse at the Kherson Regional Clinical Hospital, died from severe shrapnel wounds sustained during a Russian artillery attack on the facility. Born on July 9, 1999, in the village of Vasylivka in the Kherson region, she worked in the hospital’s burn unit. The tragedy occurred as she and a colleague tried to reach a shelter during the bombardment. A Russian shell explosion inflicted critical injuries on her.

Following the strike, Chikhrak spent several days in intensive care but ultimately succumbed to her wounds at the age of 24. A close friend recalled their final conversation:

“I took her hands and said: Oksana, I love you so much, just get better. She could barely speak and only asked: How is work without me? I told her work would wait, that we were all waiting for her, and that no one could replace her.”

Her colleagues in the burn unit affectionately called her 'Our Sunshine,' highlighting her vital role in the team. Eternal and bright memory to Oksana Chikhrak. Eternal memory to all whose lives have been taken by Russia.
