Their findings reveal that a combination of adjustments in sleep, physical activity, and diet can significantly prolong lifespan. The most notable result was an extra 9.35 years of life when participants followed an optimal routine: 42 to 103 minutes of daily exercise, 7 to 8 hours of sleep, and a healthy eating pattern.

Participants were tracked for an average of eight years. Even small changes proved impactful. For instance, adding just five more minutes of sleep, two extra minutes of exercise, and half a cup of vegetables each day could add one year to a person's life. The ideal regimen goes beyond physical movement to include a nutritious diet featuring:

  • fish
  • whole grains
  • vegetables
  • fruits

A moderate activity level-23 to 42 minutes per day-combined with up to eight hours of sleep and quality nutrition still yields substantial benefits: seven additional years of life and more than six years of good health. This research underscores how three core elements-sleep, exercise, and diet-can dramatically improve both the quality and duration of a person's life.
