Poland strengthens border control: entry without insurance is closed

Ukrainians will not be allowed into Poland
Польща посилює контроль на кордоні: в'їзд без страхування більше не доступний.

Mandatory medical insurance is required for all categories of travelers - both for holders of biometric passports who benefit from a visa-free regime and for those obtaining a visa or residence permit.

Ukrainians planning to visit Poland should carefully check all documents before crossing the border. According to the Polish Border Guard, special attention should be paid to medical insurance - without a valid policy, border guards may refuse entry.

For short visits lasting from three to thirty days, a standard policy that covers emergency medical assistance, hospitalization, surgeries, transportation to a medical facility, and repatriation in the event of death is sufficient.

In the case of long-term stays - for example, for study, work, or temporary protection - the insurance requirements are much stricter. The policy must provide minimum coverage of 30,000 euros, be valid for at least three months, and cover the entire territory of the Schengen area.

The insurance document must be issued by a licensed Ukrainian insurance company and translated into English or Polish. It is also important to check that personal data on the insurance matches the information in the foreign passport and visa.

Experts emphasize: even the smallest error in documents can be a reason for refusal to cross the border.

We also remind which countries have the most refugees from Ukraine.

When planning a trip to Poland, Ukrainians should remember about mandatory medical insurance, which can be a key factor when crossing the border. It is necessary to meet the policy requirements and have all documents in proper order to avoid possible unpleasant situations.
