BILETSKY on the truce: The shortest way is positive changes at the front
According to glavcom.ua: The commander of the Third Army Corps, Andriy Biletsky, in an interview for "Radio Freedom," expressed his opinion that too much attention is being paid in Ukraine to news about a possible truce, instead of actively moving towards it at the front.
"The shortest path to a truce is positive changes at the front. Instead of just talking about the need for a truce, we must act to make the army more effective now," emphasized Biletsky.
He also expressed his opposition to the "exchange of territories" and the withdrawal of troops on Ukrainian territory, emphasizing that the most acceptable option for Ukraine would be to freeze the conflict along the line of combat engagement (LBE).
"The attempt to withdraw to a 15-40 kilometer zone is absurd. The Russians, even if they withdraw their troops from the LBE, will do it on our territory. This would mean losing thousands of square kilometers for Ukraine," emphasized the corps commander.
Biletsky believes that freezing the war could be a time for rest and regrouping, but only if the state and society actively use this time to build up forces and carry out reforms in the fields of the army, economy, and industry.
"My goal is to achieve results at the front, as the better results of military operations make the conditions for a truce more favorable for us. Therefore, my mission is to achieve results on the battlefield," concluded the corps commander.
In his interview, the commander of the Third Army Corps expressed the view that it is important not only to talk about the truce but also to actively work towards bringing it closer to the front. He also emphasized the impracticality of exchanging territories and expressed support for freezing the conflict as an opportunity for reforms in various sectors.
