The National Guard Fighter Wrote 20 Songs in Captivity: The First One Dedicated to His Mother
According to glavcom.ua: 25-year-old National Guard serviceman Vladislav Karetnik was in Russian captivity for a long time, where he wrote more than 20 songs from memory without any materials. He dedicated the first composition to his mother. He is now living in Kyiv Region, recovering after his release.
During his captivity, Karetnik along with other fighters were mocked and tortured, however, he remained resilient thanks to music, which has always been important to him.
“When we were taken to Russia, we understood that this was captivity, what this is all about. There were beatings, mockery, and torture, so it was completely everything,” Karetnik explained.
Upon returning to Ukraine, he started recording his songs, initially dedicating his first composition to his mother. He hopes to find people who will help him release an album titled 'Songs Born in Captivity' to continue believing in a better future.
