Territorial Defense Day 2025: how to congratulate the defenders and the history of the holiday

Every year, Territorial Defense Forces Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of October. In 2025, Territorial Defense Day falls on October 5.The holiday is relatively new and is celebrated for the fifth time this year. Territorial Defense Day was established by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in 2020 with the aim of promoting the development of modern military traditions, as well as considering the significant role of territorial defense in ensuring the defense capability and territorial integrity of Ukraine. 

As of January 1, 2022, the Territorial Defense Forces became a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
