The readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase in a state of high urgency.

The United States intends to increase the number of Ukrainian servicemen they train monthly, said Laura Cooper, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, reports Voice of America. At the same time, she did not confirm statements from U.S. officials this week that the United States is preparing to send Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine.

'Winter in Ukraine will be a very dynamic time. I think some people think of winter as a time for rest and retraining, but we see no signs that the Ukrainians will stop. We certainly expect that the Russians may also try to advance on the front,' Cooper noted.

According to her, today on the front it is 'a completely different game' when it comes to the skills of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, compared to when the U.S. first began training Ukrainian forces after Russia invaded Crimea in 2014.

Cooper did not confirm statements that the United States is preparing to send Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine that could help intercept Russian missiles.

'But I can confirm that air defense is our priority, and we are looking at a number of ways to support Ukraine and its air defense needs. NASAMS was part of this,' she said.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense also confirmed that the U.S. sent components for the S-300 missile system to Ukraine to support air defense capabilities before NASAMS systems were deployed. Cooper described the tactics of Russian troops in Ukraine as a 'meat grinder, where people are thrown in despite huge losses.'

'Last spring, we sent spare parts to Ukrainians to keep their S-300 systems operational. However, the NASAMS systems do have the main capability that the Ukrainians have been able to effectively use against Russian missile threats as well as Russian drones,' emphasized Cooper.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will resume active counteroffensives as soon as the ground freezes and becomes firmer. This will facilitate the movement of military equipment, explained Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov.

The minister also added that Ukraine's plans are quite simple: liberate all temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to the borders of 1991, which were internationally recognized. He expressed confidence that while the Russians are fighting against the civilian population in an attempt to urge the Ukrainian authorities to negotiate on their terms, they will not succeed.
