Rains in Vinnytsia Region Halted Two Sugar Factories: Reason - Lack of Raw Materials

Sugar factories are closing due to a lack of raw materials
Дощі у Вінницькій області призвели до зупинки роботи двох заводів солоду через нестачу сировини.

According to glavcom.ua: Two out of five sugar factories in Vinnytsia temporarily ceased operations due to a lack of raw materials. The reason was the bad weather, which prevented the timely harvesting of sugar beets. Farmers had to wait for the weather to finally allow them to resume production.

The incoming sugar raw materials to the factories have started again, but some of them are still waiting for the necessary supplies to restart operations. In total, since the beginning of the season, enough raw materials have been received at the factories to produce 94 thousand tons of sugar.

In the first half of October, an excessive amount of precipitation fell in Vinnytsia. This led to farmers being unable to timely harvest sugar beets, and as a result, the sugar factories are currently in a state of shutdown.

At this time, only three sugar factories continue to operate in Vinnytsia. Meanwhile, sugar prices in Europe have fallen to a three-year low, leading to factory closures and reduced profits. European sugar producers blame Ukraine and EU policies for this situation.

In the Vinnytsia region, the harvesting of sugar beets has been delayed due to bad weather, causing a lack of raw materials for the sugar factories. Although the harvest has already resumed, some factories continue to wait for supplies to restart production. The situation is complicated by the drop in sugar prices in Europe, which could lead to further problems in the industry.
