HCSS Expert Explained Why Sanctions Against Russia Are Ineffective
According to hvylya.net: Defense expert Patrick Bolder believes that sanctions against Russia are unlikely to change its behavior. He noted that sanctions rarely lead to changes in the behavior of states and that only a complete economic crisis could influence the situation.
'Putin will never give up his demands regarding Crimea, the occupied territories, and other issues,' - the expert emphasized.
The expert stressed that the deadline for Russia, announced by US President Donald Trump, is unclear and illogical.
'Firstly, 50 days - why exactly 50? This gives Russia another 50 days to pressure Ukraine. Now there are only 10 days left. There is no logic in this,' - Bolder noted.
The analyst believes that to achieve a more effective strategy, more diplomatic actions are needed, such as threats to support decisive actions by the UN or the UN Security Council against Russia, as well as emphasizing the importance of weapons that could reach Russian territory and cybersecurity due to the threat of attacks.
The mentioned expert emphasizes that sanctions against Russia are unlikely to change the country's strategy, but other diplomatic measures and coordinated actions involving international organizations are necessary to resolve the conflict.
