Former Inter TV Host Andriy Domanskyi Now a Russian Citizen
Andriy Domanskyi: A New Chapter in Russia
According to Главком: Andriy Domanskyi, a former presenter for the Ukrainian TV channel Inter, has obtained a Russian passport and is currently living in Russia, where he works for a sanctioned Russian bank. The news was revealed by journalist Heorhiy Shabayev. Domanskyi received his Russian passport on December 17, 2022, in Saint Petersburg. Since March 2023, he has been employed as a developer in a division of Sovcombank, a Russian financial institution under international sanctions.
Domanskyi graduated from the Odesa Polytechnic Institute. In January 2024, he traveled to the United Arab Emirates with his family. The cost of their stay at the InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa amounted to nearly half a million rubles, which is over 5,000 US dollars.
Criticism and Public Stance
Domanskyi has previously criticized Ukraine's decommunization efforts and the renaming of streets. Following February 24, 2022, he disappeared from social media and spent time in a Baltic country. As a result, he deleted his social media accounts, though he had earlier expressed gratitude to Ukrainian volunteers on his Instagram page.
“We cannot allow the streets of our cities to be named after fascist criminals.” - Andriy Domanskyi
This statement reflects his active involvement in public debates, even as his recent international moves have raised many questions.
Domanskyi's case highlights the complex relationships between Ukrainian public figures and the current political landscape, particularly amid war and decommunization. His shift to working for a Russian bank and acquiring a Russian passport raises issues of loyalty and identity, especially for someone who once spoke out on sociopolitical changes in Ukraine. This situation also underscores ongoing discussions about the role of cultural figures in shaping public opinion during conflict.
