Marta Kostyuk's Foundation Expands Tennis Program to Schools in Three Ukrainian Regions
Launching a New Phase of the 'School Match Point' Project
According to Главком: The Marta Kostyuk Foundation is launching a new phase of its 'School Match Point' project, bringing tennis into the curriculum of schools in the Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions. This initiative will integrate the sport into the school day, allowing children to learn tennis as part of their regular education. The project has already seen success in Lviv and its surrounding region, where it introduced over 13,000 students to the sport.
New Opportunities for Students
This expansion will involve at least 40 state schools across the three new regions, providing tennis access to more than 15,000 additional pupils. Enrollment for schools is set to begin in April 2026, with the program launching in selected institutions the following September. Introducing tennis in schools provides a structured way for youth to develop coordination, discipline, and teamwork from an early age.
The Marta Kostyuk Foundation, established in 2023, aims to open tennis to 50,000 children across Ukraine by 2030. The positive results from the Lviv pilot have inspired this broader national rollout.
“It's important to me that as many children in Ukraine as possible get the chance to try tennis as a normal part of school life. That's why we created 'School Match Point'-a project that gives kids a first experience and provides teachers with the tools to make it a regular activity.” - Marta Kostyuk
She also emphasized that support from new international donors is crucial for scaling access to tennis for children throughout Ukraine.
Through 'School Match Point,' the Marta Kostyuk Foundation continues to take ambitious steps to promote tennis among youth and implement sports initiatives within educational institutions. This expansion underscores the foundation's commitment to making tennis an accessible sport for children across the country. The initiative not only fosters physical development but also builds important social skills, potentially improving youth health and encouraging an active lifestyle through curriculum integration.
As the Marta Kostyuk Foundation expands its initiatives to promote tennis in schools, the athlete herself remains focused on her competitive preparations. Recently, Marta Kostyuk has been training in Kyiv amid challenging circumstances, showcasing her resilience and dedication to both her sport and her country. This dual commitment highlights the importance of sports in fostering hope and unity during difficult times.
