Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that Russia continues to strengthen its information war despite a reduction in military spending in the 2026 budget. He emphasized that funding for propaganda in Russia will increase by an unprecedented 54%.

«This clearly reflects the priorities of the aggressor state: unable to win on the battlefield, they are primarily focusing on misinformation», – noted Andriy Sybiga.

He also stressed that in today's world, words have become an important weapon, especially in diplomacy. Strengthening information resilience is one of Ukraine's priorities for effectively protecting national interests and countering Russian aggression in the information sphere.

Increase in funding for television propaganda in Russia

The Russian government plans to significantly increase funding for television propaganda against the backdrop of tightening restrictions on social media and the Internet. According to information published by the opposition publication «Vedomosti», in 2026, state television channels will receive 106.4 billion rubles, which significantly exceeds the planned 69.1 billion rubles for 2025.

The increase in propaganda funding in Russia is a sign of the escalation of the information war that the country is waging not only on military fronts but also in the media and diplomacy. This trend underscores the importance of strengthening information resilience and information security to protect national interests in the face of ongoing manipulation and disinformation.
