Public transport in Zaporizhzhia will operate with changes on October 23

On October 23, the operation of public transport in Zaporizhzhia will temporarily change. The reason is the closure of traffic due to the DniproHES dam and ongoing repairs on Motor Builders Avenue. This was reported by the Transport Department of the Zaporizhzhia City Council.

Trolleybuses temporarily changing routes

On October 23, the operation of electric transport by ZKPME 'Zaporizhzhia electrotans' will be organized considering traffic restrictions. Some trolleybus routes will operate in a changed format:

  • No. 3 – '4th Southern Microdistrict – Zaporizhzhia Square';

  • No. 8 – 'Simferopol Highway – Zaporizhzhia Square';

  • No. 9 – 'BK ZAlK – Sedova Street';

  • No. 14 – 'Simferopol Highway – Embankment';

  • No. 17 – 'Sedova Street – Zaporizhzhia Square.'

The operation of trolleybuses No. 1 and No. 11 is temporarily suspended until the completion of repair work.

Trams: Partial traffic restrictions

Tram routes No. 3, 10, 12, 14, 15, and 16 will operate according to approved schemes, but partially with changes.In particular, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the movement of trams No. 12 and 15 will be stopped on the section between Ivanov and Shevchenko Streets.

During the work, transport will operate in a shortened format:

  • Route No. 12 – 'Freedom Square – Meat Processing Plant';

  • Route No. 15 – 'Freedom Square – AutoStrada.'

City council officials explained that the restrictions are related to the replacement of contact wire on Motor Builders Avenue.

Bus routes that will change

Bus movement will also be organized according to updated schemes. The following routes will operate without changes:

  • No. 7, 29, 34a, 38, 39, 56, 59, 71 (route 'Zaporizhzhia Square – 'Epicenter' shopping center' via Soborny Avenue, S. Serikov Street, Cosmic Street, and the international road M-18 Kharkiv-Simferopol-Yalta);

  • No. 86, 94, 97, 98 (routes with final stop 'Garnizonna Street').

Meanwhile, buses No. 17, 18, and 72, which operate from Borodinsky and Osypenkivskyi microdistricts, will move via Hrebelna Street, Winter Boulevard, Kiyashko Street, Academician Vesnin Street, Synenko Street, Nezoli Street, Arch Bridge, Khortytsia Island, Velychara Street, Metallurgists Avenue, Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street, Zaporizhzhia Square, and Soborny Avenue – without going onto Kiyashko Street.

Additional buses for passenger convenience

To avoid a transport collapse, the city authorities organized additional bus routes. They will operate on October 23 in the following directions:

  • «Pishchana Street – Metallurgists Avenue» via Synenko Street, Nezoli Street, Arch Bridge, Khortytsia Island, Velychara Street, Metallurgists Avenue (with a turnaround near BK ZAlK);

  • «Zaporizhzhia Cable Plant – Metallurgists Avenue» via Dniprovsky Highway, Schaslyva, Relief, Hrebli, Winter Boulevard, Kiyashko, Vesnina, Synenko, Nezoli, Arch Bridge, Khortytsia Island, and Velychara Street.

«The changes are temporary. After the work at DniproHES is completed, transport traffic will return to the usual schedule,» officials from the transport department of the Zaporizhzhia City Council reported.

When regular traffic will resume

Work at the DniproHES dam and on Motor Builders Avenue is planned to be completed by the end of the day on October 23. After this, the city transport routes are expected to return to standard schemes.
