INFLATION IN UKRAINE WAS REDUCED IN JULY

In July, consumer inflation in Ukraine decreased to 14.1% year-on-year, lower than in June (14.3%) and May (15.9%). Prices even fell by 0.2% compared to the previous month, mainly due to the devaluation of food products.

IMPACT OF THE NEW HARVEST ON PRICES

The cost of food fell by 1.3% due to the large influx of new vegetables into the market. After the cancellation of the commodity visa-free regime with the EU, producers kept prices from rising due to excessive supply, which helped reduce the inflation rate.

PRICE INCREASES AND DECREASES IN GOODS

Over the year, food inflation is still at 22.5%, but July was the first month of deflation this year. The most significant price drops were seen in vegetables—on average by 23.9%.

However, some goods continue to rise in price, such as bread, fruits, and meat. The price of eggs also increased by 1.5% due to changes in trading conditions with the EU.

CONTINUATION OF THE TREND

Experts suggest that the trend of devaluation of vegetables and fruits will continue in August. Among the risk factors for inflation in 2025 are the consequences of the war, rising business costs, and currency fluctuations.

In conclusion, inflation in Ukraine decreased in July due to the devaluation of food products, but some goods continue to rise in price. It is expected that the trend of decreasing prices for vegetables and fruits will continue in August, although there is a risk of inflation rising due to the consequences of the war and economic factors.
