Kazakhstan Stops Trucks from China to Russia: What Caused the Traffic Jams
Kazakhstan has begun to stop all trucks from China heading to Russia due to concerns about the transport of prohibited goods and dual-use materials. Logistics experts expect that suspicious cargo will be sent back, and traffic jams at the border have already reached several kilometers. The new restrictions may be related to the approaching sanctions policy of the West. Since mid-September, long lines of trucks have formed at the border between Kazakhstan and Russia due to restrictions and checks regarding the transport of suspicious goods such as electronics, drones, and components. Kazakhstan is an important transit country for the delivery of banned components for the Russian military complex. It should be noted that the European Union is introducing a new entry/exit system for citizens of third countries starting October 12, which involves mandatory biometric checks. Ukrainians will also have to provide their fingerprints and undergo facial scanning. Such innovations will increase security at EU borders but may create additional difficulties for travelers.
