EU, France, and Slovakia Deliver Critical Aid of Generators, Medicine, and Food to Kyiv
Humanitarian Aid Reaches Ukraine's Capital
According to Главком: Kyiv has received a significant shipment of humanitarian assistance, including generators, medicine, and food supplies, from the European Union, France, Slovakia, the Krakow Archdiocese, and an initiative by Pope Leo XIV. This support is crucial for a city that continues to face severe strain on its energy infrastructure. The first aid consignment from Slovakia included 16 generators of varying capacities and two charging stations, with the total value of this Slovak equipment reaching 166,000 euros. Among the most powerful units supplied by Slovakia were three generators with capacities of 225 kW, 100 kW, and 63 kW.
International Support Initiatives
A Slovak charitable initiative named 'Warmth for Ukraine' was launched in the latter half of January. The Donio platform and 10 Slovak non-governmental organizations joined this effort. In total, over 19,500 donors raised nearly 1.1 million euros to support Ukraine. Just prior to this, 323 generators from the EU arrived in Kyiv, bringing the total number of autonomous power sources supplied by the European Union to 500 units.
Furthermore, 30 generators from France arrived in Kyiv on February 4th. On January 30th, the city received 162 electricity generators and 846 electric heaters from the Krakow Archdiocese. Catholic communities in Krakow and Lodz also plan to donate their Sunday collection on February 1st. At the request of Pope Leo XIV, three trucks carrying medicine and food, along with 80 electric generators, were dispatched to Ukraine. This collective humanitarian aid is vital for improving living conditions and bolstering energy autonomy in the Ukrainian capital, which remains a frequent target of attacks on its power grid.
The received assistance marks a critical step in supporting Kyiv's energy infrastructure, particularly given the ongoing challenges related to power supply. The mobilization of resources from international partners like the EU, France, and Slovakia demonstrates solidarity and a readiness to help Ukraine during a difficult period. This aid not only addresses the immediate needs of the population but also enhances the city's resilience against potential future crises.
