Cyprus took over the EU Council: what does it mean for Ukraine's negotiations

According to Главком: Cyprus started its six-month presidency of the European Union Council on January 1, 2023, replacing Denmark. The presidency will last until July 1, 2023. This period allows Cyprus to influence the EU agenda, particularly on issues related to Ukraine.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos, promised to introduce a new approach to negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union. According to him,
“the agenda rightly concerns Ukraine, and it will remain so”

Before Cyprus, Poland chaired the European Union Council, highlighting the importance of continued support for Ukraine from EU countries.
