Clubs Rally Behind Polissya's Criticism of Officiating

According to Главком: Kyiv's FC Obolon has publicly endorsed a statement from Zhytomyr's FC Polissya, which condemned the standard of refereeing in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL). Polissya formally requested that the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) suspend referee Denys Shurman following their match against Dynamo Kyiv. The letter to the UAF was signed by the club's president, Hennadiy Butkevych, and its first vice-president, Oleksandr Usyk.

In their official complaint, the club's leadership stated:

"These decisions constitute gross errors that directly and decisively influenced the match's outcome, depriving FC Polissya of a playing and numerical advantage against a direct competitor. In light of the above, and considering the professional assessment provided by the Head of Refereeing, we request the lifetime suspension of Denys Shurman from refereeing activities."

Denys Shurman was the official for a first-round UPL match between Obolon and Dynamo, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Notably, in the 90th minute of that game, the referee halted a promising Obolon attack. The fallout from Polissya's 2-1 loss to Dynamo in the 19th round, where Ponomarenko scored a brace, has further fueled discontent within the football community.

In unrelated news, Volodymyr Sharan has begun his third tenure as head of FC Oleksandriya.
