According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Polina, who is an ambassador for the 'Mental Health for Ukraine' project and a biologist, shared her long journey in the fight against various mental disorders. She has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, as well as borderline personality disorder. After joining the ambassador program, she felt support and encouragement from other project participants.

Polina emphasized the importance of being open about her condition, but acknowledged that it requires inner strength and readiness. She assured that publicly disclosing her diagnosis can have various consequences, so it is important to think this decision through and prepare for it.

“At first, I was scared and surprised to speak openly about my problems that I had not even tried to share with my relatives. However, later I felt how it gives me strength. In fact, it helps to break the stigma. I cannot express in words what I feel when someone approaches me after my speech and says: 'I am dealing with this too.'”

Polina encourages not to feel alone in mental health issues, as there are always professionals and compassionate people ready to help find a way out. The project is implemented with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Participation in such programs and open communication about mental health are important for reducing stigma and supporting those in need of help. Delicate issues related to mental health can also become more natural in everyday communication, helping to create a healthier and more compassionate society.
