Lithuania uncovered a scheme to circumvent sanctions against Russia: 11 individuals arrested
The Criminal Customs Service of Lithuania uncovered a complex international scheme to circumvent sanctions against Russia. According to their data, a company from Kaunas attempted to export special industrial equipment worth about 2 million euros to Russia through Portugal.
Lithuanian law enforcement arrested 11 individuals, conducted searches, and confiscated several tons of equipment. The operation was coordinated by Eurojust and Europol, with participation from the police of Portugal and Bulgaria. The investigation is led by the Kaunas District Prosecutor's Office.
The company from Kaunas employed a complex scheme of shadow supplies, involving components from European Union countries and China. Part of this equipment was intended for the oil industry in Russia. Following the searches conducted in Lithuania and Portugal, where fictitious recipients were discovered, the investigation continues.
