Price Surge Ahead: Key Food Items Set to Cost More in February 2026
Price Forecast for Goods in February 2026
According to ХВИЛЯ: Analysts are predicting a significant price increase for specific categories of goods in February 2026. While experts hold differing views on the overall inflation rate, they point to particular products likely to become more expensive in the coming weeks. January 2026 saw an inflation rate of approximately 1-1.1%, which might suggest price stability. However, last year's producer price growth reached a much higher 8.2%, indicating underlying cost pressures.
According to forecasts, inflation in February 2026 could hold steady at January's level of around 1–1.1%, as noted by Andriy Zablovsky. Another expert, Andriy Shevchyshyn, emphasized that inflation in February might even slow down. Despite these overall figures, a range of staple food items are still expected to see notable price hikes, according to expert assessments.
Food Items Expected to Rise in Price
- Eggs are projected to increase by 5%, reaching 66–70 UAH per ten.
- Buckwheat will also rise in price by 5–8%, to 40–42 UAH per kilogram.
- Bread, in turn, will become more expensive by 1.5–2%.
- Butter and hard cheeses will see price increases of 2–5%.
- Citrus fruits could surge by up to 10%, with lemons potentially costing over 100 UAH per kilogram.
These projections indicate that, despite general inflation stability, consumers may face significant price volatility for specific essential goods. This trend is a common economic pattern where average figures mask sharper increases in daily necessities. Such increases can impact household budgets as basic food items become more costly. Experts advise consumers to prepare for these changes in product costs and to plan their expenses in line with these forecasts.
