Ukraine to Receive Swedish Gripen: Havryliuk Discusses New Fighters
According to hvylya.net: According to the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense, General Ivan Havryliuk, in addition to the already announced additional F-16s and French Mirages, Ukraine is expecting new aircraft. The general specified that deliveries of F-16s, French Mirages, and Swedish Gripens are anticipated.
In an interview with BBC, Havryliuk noted that the nomenclature of aircraft has been confirmed, but he declined to provide details on timelines and quantities, saying: 'Let's wait until you see them in the sky over Ukraine, then you'll understand.'
The announcement regarding Gripens came amid increasing Russian airstrikes. Russia will increase the number of means of destruction. At the beginning of September, the aggressor country launched over 800 drones and missiles - a record since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Ukraine has reached out to partners requesting at least ten Patriot systems. Regarding this, Havryliuk mentioned that 'there is movement in this direction', but he did not specify any particular details. It was also noted that countering Russian 'Shaheeds' is becoming more difficult due to the use of new technologies.
Currently, Ukraine is also requesting long-range 'Tomahawk' missiles. U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance stated that the Trump administration is considering this issue. Domestic production covers about 40% of the front's needs; however, in the field of anti-aircraft missile defense systems, the country currently relies almost completely on partners.
Ukraine is actively expanding cooperation with other countries to obtain military equipment and weapons. Deliveries of Swedish Gripen fighters are expected, along with requests for Patriot systems and long-range 'Tomahawk' missiles. The new weapons will help Ukraine enhance its defense capabilities and counter the threat from Russia.
