The Ministry of Defense is introducing new contracts: clear terms of service and deferment
The Ministry of Defense, under the instruction of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, is actively working on new contracts for military personnel. The main innovation will be guaranteed terms of service from 1 to 5 years, with the possibility of a one-year deferment from mobilization after the end of the contract. This addresses the requests of military personnel and their families aimed at ensuring fairness and predictability.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed that the new contracts will be accompanied by an increase in monthly payments, signing bonuses, and an expanded social package.
These changes respond to the key requests of military personnel and will contribute to their more comfortable service. Reforms in the defense sector are already taking effect, and all the details regarding the new contracts are expected to be published soon.
From November 1, military personnel in Ukraine will also have the opportunity to apply for a deferment from mobilization online, and a basic military service instead of conscription will be introduced. The state is taking steps towards the digitalization of military accounting and updating medical commission procedures, aimed at improving conditions for military personnel in Ukraine.
