Artists Whose Concerts Are Discouraged in Moldova

According to Главком: Moldova's Ministry of Culture has released a list of 26 artists from post-Soviet states whose performances are not recommended within the country. Based on a document approved in February 2026, the list is advisory in nature. Its aim is to prevent threats to Moldova's security. The ministry warns that artists on this list may be denied entry to the country.

Artists on the List

Among those named is Ukrainian singer Oleg Vynnyk. The list also includes several Russian performers, such as:

  • Klava Koka
  • Morgenstern
  • DJ Smash
  • Igor Nikolaev
  • Dmitry Malikov
  • Leonid Agutin
  • Egor Kreed
  • Sergei Shnurov (of the band Leningrad)
  • Sergei Zhukov (of the band Ruki Vverkh)

The Russian pop group Tatu and rapper Basta are also mentioned.

The Ministry of Culture emphasizes that the document may be updated and advises cultural event organizers to consult the ministry's position in advance before planning concerts. Denying entry to artists could lead to event cancellations and damage organizers' reputations.

Oleg Vynnyk, who left Ukraine after the full-scale invasion began, expressed surprise that he is not allowed to speak Russian. His comment sparked discussions about new realities in the region's cultural life amid modern political challenges.

The ministry notes that it does not ban cultural events or restrict international cooperation but adheres to security recommendations.

This list of artists reflects the complex political situation in the region and Moldova's response to potential security threats. Amid rising tensions between countries with historical and cultural ties, such measures may be seen as necessary to protect national interests. At the same time, they raise concerns among cultural figures and fans who may face limited access to international culture.
