According to Главком: Two people have died and two others were injured after a powerful storm system swept across Ukraine. Emergency crews are now working to manage the aftermath across 13 regions. Strong winds and falling trees knocked out electricity in 1,121 settlements.
In Cherkasy, one person was killed when a tree fell on an ATV while it was moving. A similar incident occurred in Zakarpattia, where a man died after being struck by a falling tree. In Poltava, a child was injured by a falling tree.
Worsening Weather and Rescue Efforts
On April 26, the right-bank area of Kyiv experienced severe weather, including thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail. Meteorologists had warned of deteriorating conditions across most of Ukraine, forecasting strong northwesterly storm winds of 15–20 m/s. Rain, and in some places wet snow, were expected in the northern and western parts of the country.
Rescue services made 176 trips to saw up fallen trees and carry out restoration work. A total of 647 rescuers and 150 pieces of equipment have been deployed to handle the storm's impact.
