Kyiv Night Strike: 6 Dead, 64 Wounded in Attack on Unit.City Tech Hub
Deadly Assault on Kyiv: Casualties and Destruction
According to Главком: In the early hours of June 2, 2026, Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, targeting the Shevchenkivskyi district. The assault heavily damaged the Unit.City innovation park-a major IT hub-and a nearby residential complex. Roman Lansky, co-founder and CEO of Strimco, confirmed the destruction, stating that the street suffered severe damage, with many injured and several fatalities.
According to reports, three people lost their lives near one of the damaged buildings while trying to reach the IT park’s shelter. Among the victims were a woman born in 1949 and a man born in 1977. Another woman, accompanied by two children, died near a barrier as she headed to a bunker; the children were hospitalized. Emergency responders provided first aid in an underground parking garage that served as a refuge.
As of 12:00 PM on June 2, medical authorities confirmed 6 deaths and at least 64 injuries in Kyiv. Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko provided the casualty figures, noting that the numbers may not be final. The attack underscores the ongoing dangers faced by civilians in Ukraine’s protracted conflict.
Operation Details and Aftermath
The strike involved ballistic and cruise missiles as well as attack drones. Beyond the Shevchenkivskyi district, the Obolonskyi district also saw damage to industrial sites and unfinished buildings. An unexploded ordnance fell onto the grounds of a kindergarten in Obolonskyi.
“Tonight was not easy for us-our residential complex and the entire street suffered greatly, with many wounded and some dead,” said Roman Lansky.
He also expressed regret over his lack of preparedness for the emergency, adding: “Today, that hindered me and played a role. Honestly, I feel ashamed that my readiness wasn’t enough for such a situation.”
This attack marks another tragic episode in the ongoing war in Ukraine, highlighting the severe threats to civilian life. The destruction of residential areas and loss of innocent lives underscore the vulnerability of non-combatants caught in the conflict zone. Such events raise urgent concerns about public safety and the adequacy of emergency infrastructure in wartime.
The recent missile strike has not only caused immediate casualties but has also raised concerns about the ongoing safety of civilians in Kyiv. In a related incident, authorities discovered human remains in the aftermath, highlighting the tragic impact of these attacks. As the situation evolves, the community continues to grapple with the aftermath and the urgent need for enhanced safety measures.
