According to glavcom.ua: As a result of the investigation, it was found that from 2017 to 2020, work was carried out on the construction of this facility for the 'Energoatom' company. At the end of the construction, contracts were signed without competitive bidding, which led to a threefold increase in the cost of the contract. As a result, the company received undue benefits three times greater than anticipated in the agreement.
A Ukrainian suspect, accused of involvement in the embezzlement of almost 100 million UAH from the State Enterprise 'Energoatom' for the construction of a Centralized Storage Facility for Nuclear Fuel, was extradited by Germany.
This case highlights the need to improve control mechanisms over the conclusion of contracts and the signing of agreements in the Ukrainian construction sector, as well as emphasizes the relevance of the fight against corruption in the country.
