Germany sets a record for working hours: how it will affect Ukrainian refugees

German residents are working a record number of hours
Німеччина продемонструвала рекордну кількість трудових годин: які зміни це принесе для українських біженців?

In Germany, residents are working more and more, averaging 29 hours a week, which has become a record since the reunification of the country. The statistics take into account all residents aged 20 to 64, including even unemployed individuals with zero hours per week. In particular, there has been an increase in working hours among women, who now work 9 hours less than men compared to 1991. The Hanover Institute suggested that civil servants should work 5.5 years longer than employees due to the longer life expectancy of officials and increased pension system payouts. The Bundestag administration is also planning to implement yoga and pilates courses for employees to reduce stress levels in the workplace. Interestingly, by August 2025, there are already 271,800 Ukrainian refugees working in Germany, which is 80,000 more than a year ago.
