Ukraine Announces Disability Pension Increases for 2026
Disability Pension Revisions Scheduled for 2026 in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: In 2026, disability pensions in Ukraine will be increased in line with a rise in the official subsistence minimum for people unable to work. The new payment amounts will be determined by an individual's disability group and whether they have a qualifying insurance record. Those without the required insurance history will receive social assistance set at the full subsistence minimum level.
According to the new figures, the 2026 subsistence minimum for non-working individuals will be 2,595 hryvnias. For persons with disabilities who have an insurance record, pension amounts will be calculated as follows:
- Disability Group 1: 100% of the subsistence minimum, amounting to at least 2,595 hryvnias.
- Disability Group 2: 90% of the minimum, approximately 2,336 hryvnias.
- Disability Group 3: 50% of the minimum, around 1,298 hryvnias.
It is important to note that individuals lacking the necessary insurance record will qualify for social assistance equal to 100% of the subsistence minimum, which will also be 2,595 hryvnias in 2026. Furthermore, upon reaching the age of 60, recipients of disability pensions will have the option to transition to an old-age pension. For military personnel, the standard insurance requirements may not apply, and their payments will be linked to their monetary allowance. These policy updates were published on the official website of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. This adjustment is part of ongoing social security reforms in the country.
Aiming for Social Equity and Support for Vulnerable Groups
These changes to the disability pension system are intended to improve the financial situation for this segment of the population, particularly amid rising prices and inflation. The increase in both pensions and social assistance represents a significant step toward ensuring greater social equity and providing support for vulnerable groups. With these adjustments, people with disabilities will receive more adequate payments that better correspond to their needs and the economic realities of life in Ukraine.
