Ukrainian Pension Fund Resumes Payments for Specific Groups Under New Conditions
Payments Restored for Pensioners and Displaced Persons
According to Главком: The Ukrainian Pension Fund is resuming payments to pensioners from occupied territories and internally displaced persons who have completed physical identification but have not submitted a declaration stating they have not received payments from the Russian Federation. A critical deadline of April 1 has been set for submitting this declaration. This initiative aims to provide crucial financial support during the challenging winter months, a period when energy and living costs typically rise.
Citizens who complete their identification in February will receive payments covering both January and February. Since the beginning of January, the Ukrainian Pension Fund has already reinstated payments for 50,000 individuals. These measures are designed to ensure people are not left without income during difficult conditions.
Planned Transition to a Three-Tier Pension System
Alongside restoring payments, Ukraine also plans a gradual transition to a three-tier pension system, which will include solidarity, professional, and accumulative components. It is separately noted that years spent in university education may be counted towards pensionable service only if they occurred before 2004 and are confirmed by documents such as a diploma, certificate, or an entry in a work record book.
People will not be left without income during this difficult winter and will be able to calmly complete all the necessary procedures.
Denys Uliutin, Representative of the Pension Fund
The resumption of payments to pensioners and displaced persons from occupied territories is a vital step for ensuring their financial stability, particularly amid winter hardships. This decision also signals gradual changes within Ukraine's pension system, which could positively impact social security in the future. In the context of the ongoing war, supporting the most vulnerable segments of the population is especially urgent.
We are not afraid to admit mistakes. We see where the system failed and are already working on corrections.
