The first Kizilelma unmanned fighters will arrive in the Turkish army in 2026
Delivery of Kizilelma drones to the Turkish armed forces
According to Главком: The Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer Baykar has announced the delivery of the first two serial Kizilelma unmanned fighters to the Turkish armed forces in the first quarter of 2026. These drones will become part of the country's modern military arsenal, enhancing its defense capabilities. Two serial boards have been manufactured, and five more prototypes are currently undergoing testing.
Training of pilots and technical specialists
To prepare pilots, a five-month training program is planned, while technical specialists will undergo a four-month training course. The main engines used in the Kizilelma drones are Ukrainian aviation engines AI-25TLT and AI-322F. In August 2025, the mass production of drones using these units was confirmed.
In addition, in December, the Turkish Defense Procurement Agency delivers an average of nearly 950 interceptor drones to the armed forces daily. At the end of 2025, two Kizilelma drones successfully completed an autonomous flight in dense formation, demonstrating their high technological capabilities and readiness for combat application.
It is noteworthy that AI-25TLT is a reliable engine without an afterburner, providing a high subsonic speed, while AI-322F is a more powerful engine with an afterburner, allowing the aircraft to reach supersonic modes. These characteristics make Kizilelma drones an important element in Turkey's modern military strategy.
'The first two serial Kizilelma fighters will arrive at the Turkish armed forces,' said Halil Akar.
The delivery of Kizilelma drones is an important step in strengthening Turkey's defense capabilities, especially in the context of increasing geopolitical challenges in the region. With the use of modern technologies and Ukrainian engines, these drones could significantly change the balance of power in the airspace. Mass production and pilot training also indicate Turkey's serious approach to developing its own military industry, which could influence its role on the international stage.
