Energoatom received 61 billion hryvnias in profit: where the funds will go
The undistributed profit of 'Energoatom' reached 61 billion hryvnias
After the increase in tariffs for the population, 'Energoatom' received a record undistributed profit of 61 billion hryvnias. This was reported by the chairman of the Union of Consumers of Utility Services, Oleg Popenko.
33 billion hryvnias from this amount went to fulfill the mechanism of placing special obligations (PSO) - a scheme that he considers discriminatory and manipulative. This mechanism operates not according to the real cost of electricity production, but at a 'market price' that is four times higher than the actual cost. Another 28 billion hryvnias remained in the company, and now the audit by the State Audit Office will show where exactly these funds have gone.
The expert emphasizes: the price of electricity for the population has no economic justification, and the government mechanism PSO is erroneous and unfair. 'What was supposed to protect people has become a tool for redistributing billions within the energy market,' he stated.
After the increase in tariffs for the population, 'Energoatom' earned a record amount of undistributed profit, 61 billion hryvnias. However, part of these funds was spent on fulfilling the PSO scheme, which experts consider discriminatory and manipulative. Currently, the audit is expected to reveal where these funds went, but critics are already claiming about the negative impact of this mechanism on the situation in the energy market.
