This disconnection, scheduled for January 10, 2026, may leave nearly 500,000 residents of the region without water.
Consequences of Disconnection
The power outage threatens water and heat supply in such settlements as:
- Poltava
- Opishnya
- Kotelva
- Zinkiv
- Hradizk
- Reshetylivka
This will also affect dozens of villages and communities. According to the information, the list of institutions that may be left without water includes:
- regional perinatal center
- hospitals
- schools
- kindergartens
- shelters
Amid this situation, the Poltava Regional Council has decided to allocate 14.4 million hryvnias from the reserve fund to ensure water supply during blackouts. However, despite these measures, local government representatives believe that the Department of Housing and Communal Services' decision must be revoked immediately. Oleg Popenko, one of the deputies, expressed concern about the consequences of such a step.
