Russia Launches 60 Attacks on Ukrainian Forces in Just Two Hours Despite Ceasefire
Frontline Situation During the Three-Day Truce
According to Главком: Despite a declared three-day ceasefire from May 9 to 11, Russian forces continue to launch active assaults and shelling against positions held by Ukraine's Defense Forces. As of 4:00 PM on May 10, 60 attacks by the aggressor had been recorded. Fighting is ongoing across multiple sectors, clearly indicating that the peace agreement is not being honored.
The Kremlin agreed to a three-day truce for May 9–11, with Russia announcing a unilateral ceasefire from midnight on May 8 through May 10 to mark the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazism. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the three-day ceasefire with Russia along with a prisoner exchange. U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that a three-day truce between Ukraine and Russia had been reached. However, the situation on the front lines tells a different story.
Shelling and Combat Across Multiple Axes
In the Sumy region, several settlements continue to suffer, including:
- Koronyok
- Novovasylyivka
- Rohozine
- Yastrubshchyna
- Budky
- Atynske
- Neskuchne
- Bachivsk
- Luzhky
- Volfyne
- Iskryskivshchyna
On the Northern Slobozhanskyi axis, the enemy conducted 41 shelling attacks, 10 of which involved multiple launch rocket systems. One of nine combat engagements is ongoing here, along with eight assaults on positions near Zelene, Starytsia, Petro-Ivanivka, Myrove, Symynivka, and Krasne Pershe.
On the Lyman axis, the aggressor launched five assaults near Zarichne, Lyman, Stavky, and Ozerne. On the Sloviansk axis, two enemy attempts to advance near Rai-Oleksandrivka and Riznykivka were repelled. On the Kostiantynivka axis, five attacks occurred near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, and Ivanopillia, with one engagement still ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk axis, occupiers tried 24 times to push back Ukrainian troops near Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, Novopidhorodne, as well as toward Hannivka, Myrne, Serhiivka, and Novooleksandrivka, where one engagement continues. Meanwhile, on the Oleksandrivka axis, an attack near Oleksandrohrad was successfully halted.
On the Huliaipole axis, nine attacks were repelled near Rybne, Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka, and Huliaipilske. On the Kupiansk, Kramatorsk, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovskyi axes, the enemy carried out no offensive actions. On May 9, invaders launched 51 attacks; the night before, they struck with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea and 43 attack drones.
“Moscow called on Kyiv to follow this example,” the Kremlin stated.
Thus, despite the declared truce, the frontline remains highly volatile with ongoing hostilities. This situation underscores that, despite attempts to reach a peaceful resolution, the reality of combat operations remains complex and dangerous. The failure to uphold peace agreements, coupled with Russia's active military operations, casts doubt on the prospect of a stable peace in the region. Observers and analysts continue to monitor developments closely, as such conflicts could have far-reaching implications for European security.
While the recent ceasefire was expected to bring a pause to hostilities, the reality on the ground reflects a troubling trend of continued aggression.
