Andriy Popovych died in Sumy region: the story of a defender who returned from abroad
According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainians, despite everything that is happening, honor the memory of those who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war every day at 9 o'clock. Today we remember Andriy Popovych.
On July 16, 2025, Andriy died while performing a combat mission in the Sumy region. This tragic event was recorded by the Kostopil City Council and reported by the 'Glavkom' portal.
Andriy Popovych, born on January 10, 1993, in Kostopil, graduated from local school No. 2 and obtained a profession as a stonemason-finish worker at the local vocational college. After that, he worked in construction first in his hometown and then abroad.
When the war started, Andriy was abroad but returned home to support his family. In December 2024, he was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served in the 225th separate assault regiment.
«He said nothing about the war so as not to worry us. He was always positive, always smiling. Such a sincere, kind, and bright guy. To me, he was the best son,» says Andriy's father, Yuriy Popovych.
Andriy Popovych died on July 16, 2025, during a combat mission in the Sumy region and was buried at the 'New' cemetery in Kostopil. He was left only with his parents.

We remember all those who perished at the hands of the Russian occupiers, lighting candles of remembrance, bowing our heads in sorrow during the moment of silence to pay tribute to all Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for our freedom and independence,» they add in 'Glavkom'.
Remembering Andriy Popovych, we remember all military personnel and civilians who lost their lives in this war, who made immense sacrifices for the peace of our country.
